FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wanderlust Design's "Rest of Life" project draws inspiration from Taiwanese traditional houses, reimagining vintage building materials from the 1960s and 1970s to create a modern yet nostalgic living space. The design team sought to recreate the ambiance of an old-time family through the interplay of different materials and details, evoking a sense of home within the timeline of retro and modern.
The project features unique elements such as the begonia sliding door, which separates the space and diminishes the visual weight of a large beam at the entrance and living room. The use of terrazzo, vintage furniture, and begonia glass contributes to the retro aesthetic, while open boxes and smoked oak enhance the spacious and bright atmosphere.
Wanderlust Design's meticulous attention to detail is evident in the cabinet design, incorporating rattan mesh, serpentine roller shutters, begonia glass, antique brass handles, and door junctions. These elements reflect traditional aesthetic elements of Taiwan, seamlessly integrated into the space.
The "Rest of Life" project encompasses a new 66.1 square meter house with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a tatami room. The open design creates a visually elongated and slender space, with thoughtful details such as a 7-3 ratio of white wall and terrazzo, contributing to the illusion of height in the small house.
Wanderlust Design's "Rest of Life" project was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2023, recognizing its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach that integrates industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
