Companionship of Wellbeing: Redefining Multi-Generational Living
WEI-CHUN LIN's Companionship of Wellbeing project breathes new life into a 40-year-old house, seamlessly integrating old and new elements to create a harmonious living space. The design prioritizes accessibility and privacy, allowing caregivers and recipients to coexist comfortably under one roof while enjoying tranquil surroundings.
The architectural plan preserves the original courtyard's jabuticaba tree, offering a connection to nature and the changing seasons from within the living space. The post-epidemic era is considered, with a focus on accommodating mixed generations in a green, nature-centric environment.
The use of concrete not only adds to the aesthetics but also serves functional purposes, integrating inner and outer walls and maximizing living space on a limited construction base. The project was completed in 2021 and received the Bronze A' Design Award for its outstanding and creatively ingenious approach to multi-generational living.
