Man Wai Wong introduces "Dwarfs," an ASD Children Educational Kit, designed to improve social skills through emotion and communication training.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Man Wai Wong's "Dwarfs" is an innovative educational kit designed to improve the social lives of 6-12-year-old ASD children. The kit focuses on training emotion expression and control through a playing process with a social worker, triggering visual, tactile, and auditory sensations to facilitate deeper communication. The project, completed at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, incorporates RFID technology and digital programming to enhance auditory stimulation.
The gaming process involves the child picking up Emobjects representing negative emotions, observing them, and guessing the emotion they represent. Additionally, the child must select an Emobject that can soothe the negative emotion, promoting emotional control. "Dwarfs" was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020 for its practical and innovative approach to improving the lives of ASD children.
Man Wai Wong's "Dwarfs" is a testament to the power of design in addressing real-world challenges, offering a unique solution to improve the social skills of ASD children through engaging and interactive educational experiences.
