Hu Chen, a renowned designer, has transformed the Grandbuy department store in Guangzhou, China, through a groundbreaking renovation. The project, completed in September 2020, aimed to enhance the consumers' route within the store, ultimately boosting sales and attracting more consumers.

The renovation focused on connecting two buildings constructed at different times, aligning the spatial and business aspects to improve the overall consumer experience. By creating a central axis and core atrium, adding new elevators and escalators, and optimizing the first-floor brands, the store's visibility and accessibility were significantly enhanced.

The project's success was evident on the reopening day, with sales reaching the highest peak of the year. The innovative use of materials, such as light-weight aluminum plates and advanced lighting systems, contributed to the store's modern and attractive facade, drawing in more consumers.

Hu Chen's meticulous research and strategic design approach have not only revitalized the department store but also positively impacted the local economy. The project received the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023, recognizing its exceptional creativity and contribution to enhancing quality of life.
