Bon-Appetit Photography Studio Revamped with Glass Bricks for Natural Daylight Coexistence

TAIWAN (CHINA) -- /DESIGN/newswire -- Jul 24, 2019

Ming-Hong Tsai's Bon-Appetit Photography Studio in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, has been transformed with a unique glass brick facade to maximize natural daylight, creating a synthesis of old and new eras.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bon-Appetit Photography Studio Renovation

Ming-Hong Tsai's Bon-Appetit Photography Studio, originally built in 1982, has undergone a remarkable transformation in Hsinchu city, Taiwan. The studio's facade has been rebuilt with glass bricks, inspired by the properties of semi-transparency, to allow the coexistence of natural daylight with the interior space. This innovative design approach aims to create a connection between the building and its surroundings, fostering a unique ambiance for both the occupants and the community.

The studio's interior features a striking contrast between the glass-brick facade and the original cement hollow-brick wall, symbolizing a harmonious blend of the past and the present. The use of glass bricks not only enhances the visual appeal of the building but also facilitates the free transmission of light throughout the space, creating an inviting and luminous atmosphere.

Furthermore, the renovation project has preserved historical colonial styles by retaining the original flooring and windows, while incorporating old, hand-feel materials such as terrazzo and particle boards for the walls and ceilings. The thoughtful restoration of these elements adds a layer of authenticity to the studio's ambiance, reflecting a deep appreciation for the historical context of the building.
