Home Scenery: Redefining Urban Living with Theatrical Connection

Chong-Ping Chiu's Home Scenery is a groundbreaking residential interior design project that redefines urban living. Inspired by the owner's background in the film industry, the design incorporates a stage within the common space, creating a domestic living area with a lighter color scheme and soft timber finish to contrast with the monotone backdrop of the dining and working areas. This theatrical connection enhances the visual space, creating a unique atmosphere for its inhabitants.

The design features wood veneer, dark mirror, plywood, steel frame, cement paints, laminate and TATAMI flooring, and diatomaceous earth paints. The use of low formaldehyde and non-toxic materials ensures a healthier environment for the residents.

With a total floor size of 88 square meters, the apartment comprises a living area, dining area, kitchen, two toilets, a main bedroom, and a pink bedroom for the teen daughter. The design emphasizes smart living, compact space, and modern aesthetics, catering to the evolving needs of urban dwellers.

Chong-Ping Chiu's innovative approach to compact city living addresses the challenges of limited space and budget constraints. The design focuses on human factors and proportion, offering a solution that balances functionality and aesthetic appeal. The project, completed in 2019, serves as a testament to the evolving landscape of urban living in Taiwan.

Chong-Ping Chiu's Home Scenery received the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authentically embodies experience and resourcefulness. The project showcases strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
