Public Architectural Design Institute completes the Cang Ma Mountain rural residence project in Qingdao, China, providing a modern solution to the resettlement needs of the surrounding villages.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Public Architectural Design Institute has successfully completed the Cang Ma Mountain rural residence project, located in the picturesque Cang Ma Mountain Tourist Resort in the West Coast of Qingdao, China. The project, which commenced in October 2018 and concluded in June 2020, aimed to address the resettlement needs of over 1,300 households from the surrounding villages.
The project, spanning approximately 130,000 square meters, features a total construction area of nearly 151,200 square meters, with above-ground residential and public buildings, as well as underground construction areas. The design is characterized by its integration with the natural landscape, incorporating elements such as red tiles, green trees, fences, stone mills, tea fields, and an ancient well to convey the theme of mountain residence.
Respecting the villagers' lifestyle, the architects created a rural residence that reflects contemporary thinking while preserving pastoral nostalgia. The design, which draws inspiration from the local mountain landscape and rural culture, aims to provide cultural and entertainment humanistic care to the villagers, ensuring the preservation of old memories while meeting their practical needs.
One of the notable challenges overcome by the design team was the utilization of the slope terrain to create a harmonious integration with the natural topography, as well as the incorporation of abstracted and simplified design elements to infuse the project with the distinctive style and features of Cang Ma Mountain Residence.
Public Architectural Design Institute's successful realization of the Cang Ma Mountain rural residence project exemplifies their commitment to innovative, sustainable, and culturally sensitive architectural solutions that contribute to the enhancement of communities and the preservation of heritage.
