Paolo Demel's "Gloria" sofa, inspired by a tragic event, is a unique and innovative piece of furniture that combines functionality and personalization, earning it the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2020.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Paolo Demel's "Gloria" sofa is a testament to innovation and personalization in furniture design. The sofa, with its unique cut padding and visible steel structure, stands out as a symbol of strength and resilience. What makes "Gloria" truly exceptional is its ability to be customized with additional elements using magnets, offering endless possibilities for shapes and styles.
Designed as a "quick seat" for offices, galleries, or private homes, "Gloria" adds a strong character to any environment. The project, which began in Padova in December 2016 and concluded in June 2017, is a tribute to Gloria Trevisan, who tragically lost her life in the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017. Her sketches were integral to the realization of this project, making "Gloria" a deeply personal and meaningful creation.
Paolo Demel utilized 3D modeling and technical drawings, along with hand sketches, to bring "Gloria" to life. The sofa's unique features, such as the adjustable glass shelf and the use of magnets for customization, demonstrate the meticulous attention to detail and the innovative approach to furniture design.
