Design Unveiled: "Transparent Summer" by stephen chen

Renowned interior designer stephen chen introduces "Transparent Summer," a groundbreaking residential space that redefines modern industrial apartment design. Inspired by the essence of summer, the design features an innovative concept centered around an ice cube placed at the core of the apartment, transforming the space through color reflections and adjustable partition walls. The project, spanning 90 Sqm, was designed in 2018 and completed in 2019 in Taipei, Taiwan.

In "Transparent Summer," stephen chen presents a new style, reimagining the value of an apartment. The focal point is the strategically placed ice cube, which serves as the main core of the space, seamlessly integrating various functions. This unique design element connects the living room and dining area, effectively expanding the living space. Additionally, the use of iron pieces and shelves creates a walk-in closet, while glass doors are employed to enhance the spaciousness of the bedroom.

The realization of "Transparent Summer" involved the use of wooden tiles, plating metal, and glass, showcasing the designer's commitment to innovative and sustainable design practices. The project overcame challenges such as concealing the air conditioner pipe, achieved by creating a beam with integrated lighting to hide the power supply and AC pipes, resulting in a seamless and visually appealing living space.

stephen chen's "Transparent Summer" has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2020, highlighting its exceptional creativity and resourcefulness. The design expertly combines art, science, and technology, contributing to significant improvements in quality of life.
