Ji Qi Unveils Innovative Biodegradable Chair Inspired by the Human Pelvis
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ji Qi, a visionary designer from Nanjing, China, introduces "Taboo," a groundbreaking biodegradable chair inspired by the human female pelvis. The chair's material, a special non-fire clay, boasts strength comparable to ABS plastic and degrades into organic fertilizer within two years in an industrial landfill environment. The topologically optimized structure can withstand 100kg of longitudinal force, setting a new standard for sustainable furniture design.
The chair's material was developed in response to the global call for energy-saving and emission reduction, offering a fresh perspective on traditional raw clay construction. The design process involved Finite Element Analysis for topology optimization, 3D printing, and casting, resulting in a product that measures 420mm x 260mm x 450mm.
Ji Qi's innovative approach has earned "Taboo" the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation category, recognizing its outstanding creativity, technical skill, and contribution to sustainability. With "Taboo," Ji Qi is reshaping the future of furniture design, merging art, science, and technology to create a better world.
