FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nippo Junction, the new head office of Nippo, a leading company in road construction, is a groundbreaking project that redefines the traditional concept of corporate headquarters. Built over a multilayered intersection of urban infrastructure, an expressway, and a park, the office is a physical embodiment of the company's commitment to connectivity and innovation.
The design draws inspiration from the Japanese concept of "Michi," meaning "street," which symbolizes the connection between various elements. By incorporating the notion of "Junction" into the concept, the project aims to reorganize the connections between neighboring cities and workspaces, creating a unique and cohesive environment.
One of the standout features of Nippo Junction is the innovative double-skin glazing on the north-east sides, designed for natural ventilation, reduction of direct sunlight, and engagement with the surrounding urban landscape. This approach not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the building but also fosters a dynamic and open workplace connected to its urban surroundings.
The architectural composition of the double-skin facade on the north-west side, featuring a fan-shaped outer skin and a mullion-less inner skin, showcases the meticulous attention to detail and technical precision that went into the realization of this project.
Furthermore, the strategic placement of columns and the flexible layout of the workspace allow each department or team to establish its unique relationship with the urban environment, creating a personalized and adaptable work setting.
Despite facing various challenges, such as the presence of the Metropolitan Expressway at the site, the design team successfully implemented a seismic isolation structure to ensure the functionality and resilience of the headquarters, even in the event of a large earthquake.
Nippo Junction stands as a testament to the innovative spirit and technical excellence of the design team, earning the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2020. This recognition underscores the project's outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence in architectural design.
