Bursa, Turkey - Innovative Textile Factory Redefines Industrial Architecture
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KEREM Akin, in collaboration with Nina Handelman, Y.E. Esen, and Carmelia Chang, has designed the Bzj Textile factory in Bursa, Turkey, redefining the traditional industrial architecture. The factory, spanning 8000 m2, seamlessly integrates production, distribution, and administrative functions under one roof, embodying a new era of industrial design.
The factory's standout feature is its environmental-friendly double facade, consisting of glass curtain walls and perforated aluminum panels, which optimally control natural lighting and climate changes throughout the day and seasons. The prefabricated concrete structural system, chosen for its speed and cost-effectiveness, is openly integrated into the building's design, offering a unique visual experience.
The factory's interior showcases a blend of exposed industrial elements and custom-designed mid-century style furniture, creating a harmonious balance between functionality and aesthetics. The innovative design not only enhances the working environment but also provides maximum privacy and minimal conflict between different operational functions.
The Bzj Textile factory has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building, and Structure Design in 2021, acknowledging its exceptional creativity, technical prowess, and innovative approach to industrial architecture.
