The Amadai Center, designed by Notash Ghajar Dadjoo, is a multifunctional building that embodies the paradox of roughness and elegance, inspired by the regional natural environment. Located in Hamadan, Iran, this project began in November 2018 and was completed in January 2019, aiming to enhance the city's urban green network and become a new symbol for the city.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Notash Ghajar Dadjoo's design for the Amadai Center was driven by the concept of birthing and flourishing, drawing inspiration from the regional mountainous landscape. The building's unique feature lies in its introverted and sustainable design, harmonizing with the local cold climate and cultural identity. The project was meticulously planned to be in harmony with its context, incorporating local heritage, social interactions, and sustainability as key factors.
The Amadai Center stands out with its centralized and buried form, low height, and few openings, utilizing rough and dark materials in its facades. The design also includes a plaza and various elevation levels to encourage social events and interactions, contributing to the enhancement of the building's role in the urban green network.
With a total area of 11800 square meters on a 44500 square meter site, the Amadai Center offers a range of functions, including retail spaces, a gym, educational facilities, an observatory, planetarium, multifunctional hall, cinema, library, city traffic control room, and municipality offices.
The project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious design, showcasing strong technical and creative skills that contribute to quality of life improvements.
