Pang Ming's Experimental Design Project Utilizes Car Waste Parts to Create Functional and Emotional Furniture

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Waste Parts: Loud Speaker Design by Pang Ming

Pang Ming's innovative design project, "Waste Parts," reimagines the use of automobile waste parts to create sustainable and emotionally resonant furniture pieces. The project, which began in September 2019 and concluded in October 2019 in Shanghai, culminated in an exhibition at Experience Shanghai in December 2019.

Utilizing automobile waste parts as the primary material, the project aims to transform these discarded components into functional furniture with significant emotional and brand value. The team, led by Pang Ming and including Wang Chao and Wang Penglong, repurposed waste parts from car engines and other components to create a high-fidelity passive speaker with a unique aesthetic and acoustic properties.

The design process involved disassembling, cleaning, and polishing the waste parts, followed by the creation of a base structure made of stainless steel using laser cutting and welding techniques. The resulting loud speaker, with dimensions of 440mm (W) x 330mm (D) x 1200mm (H), showcases the potential of sustainable design and the preservation of automotive heritage.

This groundbreaking project was recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020, underscoring its innovative approach and contribution to sustainable design practices. By breathing new life into discarded automobile components, Pang Ming's "Waste Parts" project exemplifies the potential for creative and environmentally conscious furniture design.
