Ohv Showflat by Chee Khiang Low

932 Designs proudly unveils the Ohv showflat, a family-centric residential space designed by Chee Khiang Low. The project, located in Singapore, was completed in October 2021 and has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2023.

The Ohv showflat is a 3-bedroom condominium designed to showcase a home for a young family. It features family-friendly elements aimed at fostering closer ties while providing individual space for work, play, and personal growth. The design promotes strong, healthy family dynamics and mental well-being, particularly in light of the increased time spent at home during the pandemic.

With a focus on functionality and aspiration, the design draws inspiration from Japanese and Scandinavian influences to create a calming and peaceful environment. The layout was reconfigured to include open spaces, addressing the need to reduce "cabin fever" from prolonged periods at home. Family-friendly features such as raised platforms and see-through walls were incorporated to facilitate interaction and independent development for both children and adults.

The project's design and realization were guided by a commitment to sustainability and cost-efficiency. Custom-built carpentry and durable, locally-sourced materials were utilized to ensure longevity and minimal environmental impact. The design also aligns with insights from the Sekisui House Human Life R&D Institute, addressing key factors for improving happiness at home during the pandemic.
