Profound Residential Space Design by Chia-I Tsai

Chia-I Tsai's Profound residential space design, inspired by Le Corbusier's Five Points of Architecture, has been awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category for 2021. The project, completed in September 2020 in Taoyuan, Taiwan, redefines space and integrates the owner's needs with imaginative design elements.

Reimagining the layout and integrating the owner's needs, the design incorporates Le Corbusier's architectural principles, resulting in a unique Free Design of the Facade, Ground Plan, Horizontal Windows, and Roof Garden. By transforming the Pilotis into an extension of the ceiling height, the design concept is set in a new direction.

The 92.5 square meter space is characterized by its innovative approach to daylighting, utilizing a study room placed strategically to introduce light and create a bright interior. The use of dark gray color and light natural paint divides the space into upper and lower layers, enhancing the visual appeal.

Materials used in the project, including wood and paints, are eco-friendly with EEWH certification, ensuring a sustainable and well-ventilated living environment. The design successfully overcame challenges by using contrast to guide residents' thinking, incorporating wood and rattan to create a sense of calmness and privacy while maintaining ventilation.

Chia-I Tsai's Profound design is a testament to the fusion of nature, gentleness, and warmth in interior design, creating a personalized living space that reflects the occupant's unique story and lifestyle.
