Reamember: Bridging the Gap Between Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary Building

Tianyi Qi, a passionate product designer, has unveiled Reamember, a groundbreaking mobile application designed to enhance the language learning experience for users. Inspired by personal challenges faced as a newcomer to the US, Reamember aims to facilitate a seamless reading experience for language learners encountering unfamiliar words, ultimately fostering a holistic learning journey.

Reamember's key technical components include a browser and dictionary, with the ability to auto-update content on the "Community" tab. The app is exclusively designed for iOS systems, offering a user-friendly interface for enhanced accessibility.

On the "Reading" tab, users can effortlessly explore online content aligned with their interests, while an embedded dictionary enables quick checks for unfamiliar words without disrupting the reading flow. These words can be added to the wordbook for later learning. Additionally, the "Community" tab allows users to discover articles and learning resources shared by peers, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

The project, initiated in May 2020 and completed in July 2020 in New York City, was underpinned by extensive research, including interviews with English learners to understand their reading habits and challenges. The app's value proposition posed a creative challenge, ultimately defined as a "language learning tool" to encapsulate its holistic learning approach.

Tianyi Qi's Reamember has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in Mobile Technologies, Applications, and Software Design in 2022, underscoring its innovative contribution to language learning and user experience.
