An Art Installation Bridging Past and Future
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tairan Hao's "Ceramics Extension" is an art installation that seamlessly blends traditional handmade ceramics with 3D printed plastic sculptures, creating a captivating fusion of past and future. With 130 meticulously crafted pieces displayed within a mirrored space illuminated by LED lights, the installation invites viewers to contemplate the interplay between modern technology and traditional craftsmanship, as well as the boundaries between the real and virtual worlds.
The installation, conceptualized in 2016 and completed in 2017, was showcased at the Beijing Today Art Museum. Visitors stepping into the 15m x 15m x 15m space are enveloped in a visually infinite experience, where the boundaries between reality and illusion blur, prompting introspection and contemplation.
Through meticulous research and creative problem-solving, the design team overcame challenges related to material selection and sculpture arrangement, ultimately achieving the desired fantasy-like ambiance. The result is a thought-provoking environment that challenges perceptions and stimulates the imagination.
