The collection was conceived in November 2018 in Hong Kong and was showcased at the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2019.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CoCo Ree Lemery's Aggregate Collection reimagines discarded materials to create a series of unique floor lamps that combine sustainability with artistic innovation. Each lamp features a welded steel skeleton and is sculpted with a custom mix of concrete and recycled plastic, resulting in a powerful and malleable material combination that revisits structure and texture.
The design process involved extensive research and experimentation with concrete, utilizing a mix of Portland Cement, water, gravel, and additives such as shredded plastic bottles to achieve the desired aesthetic and structural properties. The resulting lamps, named "The Walk," "Holding on," and "Broken," stand as bold and commanding pieces, providing organic yet powerful emissions of light from their distinct forms.
Each lamp in the Aggregate Collection is equipped with on/off step light switches at the base, offering a seamless user experience. The collection's technical specifications include dimensions of 305mm x 1220mm x 1854mm for "The Walk," 457mm x 762mm x 1854mm for "Holding on," and 457mm x 457mm x 1854mm for "Broken."
CoCo Ree Lemery's innovative approach to sustainable design has garnered recognition, with the Aggregate Collection receiving the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures category in 2020. The collection's unique blend of craftsmanship, functionality, and environmental consciousness sets it apart as a beacon of sustainable design in the modern era.
