Modern and Simple Lamp Designed for Commercial Spaces

Kurt Orkun Aktas introduces Aktas, a modern and elegant lighting solution designed specifically for commercial spaces. The lamp is a unique and versatile product, featuring a simple yet sophisticated design that minimizes visual clutter. With a shiny finish and the use of an Edison bulb, Aktas stands out as a stylish addition to any space.

The most distinctive feature of Aktas is its lightness, achieved through a single-piece frame made by bending a 20 x 20 x 1.5mm square metal profile. This frame supports a transparent glass cylinder encasing a 40W E27 long and slim incandescent Edison light bulb. The entire lamp is painted in a bright bronze color, adding to its elegant appeal.

Designed to be wall-mounted, Aktas is operated by connecting its cabling to a 220V main electric system, with a fuse assigned to control all light fixtures in a zone. The lamp provides a homogeneous level of illumination on the tables placed just underneath it, as well as the general space in which it is installed.

The design project for Aktas spanned from March to December 2017 in Ankara, Turkey, as part of a larger endeavor to design a patisserie and supporting production areas. The lamp was the result of qualitative research focusing on lighting design, material selection, and interior ambiance formation, aiming to create a lighting fixture that seamlessly integrates with its surroundings.

Kurt Orkun Aktas holds the design registration certificate for Aktas, issued by the Turkish Patent Institute, affirming the design rights for the following five years starting from December 27, 2017. Additionally, Aktas was honored with the Iron A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial requirements.
