Monica Oddone introduces MinMax, an innovative folding bicycle designed for city commuters, offering a revolutionary foldable wheel solution and the option to transform into an electric version.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monica Oddone, an industrial designer known for her commitment to ecodesign, has unveiled MinMax, a groundbreaking folding bicycle designed to meet the needs of city commuters. The inspiration for MinMax arose from the growing significance of sustainable mobility and the limitations of existing folding bicycles in terms of portability and adaptability to urban environments.
MinMax stands out with its revolutionary foldable wheels, offering three configurations - riding, dragging, and packing. This design allows users to carry the bicycle in a backpack and store it conveniently at home, the office, or on public transport. Additionally, the basic model can be effortlessly converted into an electric version with a brushless motor and a battery, providing an eco-friendly alternative for urban commuters.
The bicycle frame is constructed from 7005 aluminum alloy with TIG welding, ensuring durability and lightweight portability. The adjustable handlebar and saddle, along with the cardanic transmission and 23" wheels equipped with mechanical disk brakes and foldable airless pneumatics, contribute to the overall functionality and user experience of MinMax.
MinMax's riding, dragging, and packing configurations, along with its compact dimensions and weight of 9-9.5 kg, make it a versatile and convenient choice for urban commuters seeking sustainable and efficient mobility solutions.
Monica Oddone's meticulous design process for MinMax involved extensive research, including a thorough analysis of existing folding bike models and the identification of unmet user requirements. The project, developed between 2015 and 2019, encompassed structural analysis, market research, and the formulation of a business plan to bring MinMax to production and commercialization.
MinMax has garnered recognition in the design community, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Vehicle, Mobility, and Transportation Design category in 2020. This accolade acknowledges the design's innovative approach and its potential to contribute to quality of life improvements in urban environments.
