Vintage Remix: Redefining Interior Design with JULIAN PIPEROV

JULIAN PIPEROV's Vintage Remix project introduces a captivating blend of old and new, featuring two vintage French cabinets alongside custom-made sculptural steel pieces in a 130 m2 apartment. The design concept was inspired by the current progressive trends of upcycling and re-use of old furniture in a contemporary setting, aiming to create a refreshing tension between warm aged wood and intricate intarsia with the industrial feel of dark steel structures.

The custom pieces, Harmonica Bar and Overhang, and Harmonica Shelving Unit, are produced using 3 mm laser-cut steel plate, with the shelves made of 16 mm MDF with stained oak veneer. The design challenges included creating a working prototype and finding the right producer for the custom steel structures, overcoming limited length constraints of the perforated steel bands.

The Vintage Remix project was awarded the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2022, recognizing its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach that meets professional and industrial requirements, integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics.
