Pineal: Redefining Virtual Reality with Standalone VR Headset

Mohamad Montazeri introduces Pineal, a standalone VR headset that redefines the virtual reality experience. Inspired by the Pineal gland, Pineal serves as the third eye, enabling users to immerse themselves in the world of virtual reality without the need for a computer or mobile phone. The headset's pure form and lightweight design make it easier to use, while the improved ergonomics of the controllers, strap, and cushion enhance comfort and support.

Utilizing advanced manufacturing techniques, Pineal boasts fine details and textures on its surface, preserved through CNC molding and heat model injection. The adjustable fabric strap and breathable cushion ensure a customized and comfortable fit for users. With dimensions of 180.9 mm x 117 mm x 141 mm and weighing 436 g, the Pineal headset offers a seamless and immersive VR experience.

Montazeri's 17-month project involved extensive research on VR user feedback and ergonomic studies to address the challenges of encouraging VR headset usage. Pineal's innovative design has earned it the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding creativity and contribution to improving the quality of life through technology and design.
