Nedim Mutevelic introduces Sfumato, a modular shelving system inspired by the urban landscape, designed to create different atmospheres for contemporary indoor spaces.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nedim Mutevelic presents Sfumato, a dynamic and modular shelving system that reflects the metropolis for contemporary indoor spaces. The design, inspired by the urban landscape, features a stable and massive bottom, with a broken and fragmented top, creating a continuous and endless horizontal base. The system offers various heights, depths, and transparencies, allowing for different configurations and dimensions through the simple combination of modules. Sfumato is a stand-alone or wall shelf system made of MDF with a matt lacquered finish, suitable for living and office spaces.
The project started in 2018 in Sarajevo and Djakovo, and was produced in Djakovo during 2018. Sfumato has been showcased at various fairs and exhibitions, including IMM Cologne, BIG SEE AWARD - MONTH OF DESIGN, AMBIENTA Furniture Fair, BFF, and AMBIENT Fair. The design was awarded the Big See Product Design Award in 2019 and is planned to be presented at SALONE DEL MOBILE in Milano. Sfumato's unique visual language for a modular system creates a seamless whole, overcoming creative and technical challenges to evoke the skyline of an urban landscape.
Nedim Mutevelic, an architect and designer based in Sarajevo, is the co-founder of FILTER architecture and LIFT - spatial initiatives. With a master's degree in architecture, Mutevelic has received numerous awards at local and international competitions, including the Grand Prix Collegium Artisticum, Young Balkan Designers, Himalayan Mountain Hut Competition, and the Big See Award Product Design. Sfumato has been recognized with the Platinum A' Design Award in 2020, showcasing unmatched professionalism, innovation, and societal contribution.
