FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Renowned designer and artist Elise Eekhout has unveiled a new visual language for the Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate's digital magazine about Schiphol Airport. Inspired by the simplicity and elegance of the Dutch government's corporate identity, Eekhout utilized continuous line drawings to visually simplify complex topics, setting this series apart from other governmental digital magazines that primarily use photographs.
The illustrations, created with Adobe Illustrator software, are vector-based and suitable for print in various sizes, with the main usage being online. The images have a maximum dpi of 1980 x 1980 to optimize loading speed, and the content management system will scale the images to the appropriate proportions.
These line drawings, reminiscent of Picasso's style, distill intricate subjects such as construction restrictions and noise pollution to their core, providing information about safety on and around Schiphol Airport. The project involved collaboration with editor Dorien Bennink and communication advisors Sanne Liefrink, and was completed in The Hague.
Elise Eekhout's innovative approach has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2022, acknowledging the practical and innovative nature of the creations, which meet professional and industrial requirements while contributing to a better world.
