Andrew Liu's Blue Moon project, completed in January 2019 in Taipei, Taiwan, introduces a revolutionary classroom design that challenges traditional learning environments with its unique concept and open circulation planning.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Andrew Liu's Blue Moon project reimagines the conventional classroom setting, incorporating a unique concept inspired by the phenomenon of the "Blue Moon." The design features floating concrete decorations representing the mysterious feeling of the moon, along with freely arranged screens mimicking the moon's changeable but periodic characteristics.
Unlike traditional cram schools, the Blue Moon project prioritizes smooth and open circulation planning, transparent visual scale, and reinforced glass support for fixed objects, creating a visually striking and functional learning environment. The organic arrangement of screens in public areas and the sinusoidal curve concept on the facade further enhance the innovative design.
To realize the design, the team utilized advanced technology, including welding iron pipes and using wood materials to create louvers with a sinusoidal curve shape. The concrete walls are supported by the floor slab, while glass partitions and doors create a visually imaginative space.
