Peter Rattle for CUS (Vic) Pty Ltd has unveiled a revolutionary upholstered joinery design at RMIT Bldg 88, redefining the workspace with a focus on flexibility and collaboration. The 1650m2 fitout features collaborative and flexible working spaces, meeting rooms, executive meeting spaces, and unique curved and angular banquette seating, along with large timber ceiling panels.
The design concept draws on a continuous open area that wraps around the building core, providing both an open plan workspace and added privacy if required. The fitout was a fast-tracked program, completed over a 7-week period with a focus on maximizing natural light and creating a unique but standardized work environment.
Utilizing a combination of curved and angular design, the seating helps to breakup the main areas while maintaining the desired shape and strength. The greatest challenge was to achieve the internal and external angled seating structure without compromising on stability and functionality.
Peter Rattle for CUS (Vic) Pty Ltd's commitment to the commercial market has seen them manufacture and supply joinery and seating to a wide range of clients, including major hotels, resorts, casinos, educational, and office fit-outs. The design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its practical and innovative approach that meets professional and industrial requirements.
