Starcofree Coworking: Redefining the Workspace

Starcofree Coworking, designed by YI CING LI, is a revolutionary concept that seamlessly integrates office and dining spaces. The design concept of "parallel integration, vertical sharing" aims to provide a convenient dining choice for office workers while ensuring the space remains active during non-dining hours. The space is located in Taichung City, Taiwan, and was completed in July 2019.

Unlike traditional coworking spaces, Starcofree Coworking features kitchens, bar counters, and professional equipment for lectures, creating a multifunctional environment. The design focuses on natural lighting, space transparency, and a humanized, comfortable office atmosphere. The interior decoration emphasizes a subtractive design approach, maintaining the original fire-resistant cladding and utilizing lightweight materials to achieve a simple and rustic ambiance.

The space boasts a 270-degree window view, allowing occupants to switch working positions and enjoy the surrounding scenery. It also includes event exhibition equipment and merchandise display areas, offering diverse business possibilities within the workspace.

The design team overcame challenges related to flow patterns, sound insulation, and odor control, ensuring that the office and restaurant functions do not interfere with each other. The space features a self-developed app with QR code access control for shared and business areas, along with soundproof walls comparable to those found in recording studios.

Starcofree Coworking was honored with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authentically combines experience and resourcefulness. YI CING LI's innovative approach has redefined the traditional workspace, offering a unique blend of functionality and comfort.
