FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yen, Pei-Yu's Revival cafe, nestled within the Tainan Art Museum, breathes new life into the historical Tainan Main Police Station, infusing it with a modern and inviting ambiance. Inspired by the eclectic architectural styles of the Japanese colonial period, the cafe's interior features curved designs and a rich color palette, creating a seamless fusion of the past and present.
The project, a Bronze A' Design Award winner, exemplifies the emerging trend of heritage reuse, with the cafe serving as a bridge between the building's storied past and its vibrant future as part of the Tainan Art Museum. The space, which was once a detention center, has been transformed into a warm and inviting environment, emphasizing interaction with the surrounding greenery to counteract its chilly history.
Despite the challenges posed by heritage regulations, the project successfully navigated the preservation requirements, showcasing a deep understanding of the building's historical significance and architectural style. The cafe's unique curved chairs, carefully crafted to fit the irregular space, further highlight the meticulous attention to detail and the dedication to preserving the building's integrity.
