Edoardo Milesi's Hill House is a remarkable low-energy residential project that redefines modern living. Inspired by the natural landscape, the design features housing boxes that rest on the ground at different heights, utilizing a cantilevered structure and slender metal pilotis. The two residential units, characterized by modularity, are designed to accommodate the morphology and topography of the site, contributing to the re-naturalization of the green area.
The construction of Hill House reflects a commitment to eco-sustainability, utilizing natural and recyclable materials such as colored concrete, larch wood, and pre-oxidized zinc-titanium sheet. The project's total volume is 1205.55 cubic meters, with building heights not exceeding 8.50 meters above ground. The construction techniques employed include traditional concrete and masonry for the underground and structural parts, along with dry-assembled wooden infill panels.
The project, developed by Edoardo Milesi and his team, involved careful research and consideration of the landscape, solar orientation, and integration into the surrounding foliage. The two housing units share common service areas on the ground floor but offer distinct living experiences, reflecting the local countryside's diversity.
Edoardo Milesi's Hill House project began in April 2015 and was completed in October 2016, with construction taking place in Ponteranica, Bergamo. The design was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding innovation and technical excellence.
