Movus: Revolutionizing Airport Cargo Transportation

Designed by Ahmet Burak Veyisoglu, Movus is an electrical autonomous cargo vehicle specifically created to address the issues surrounding luggage and cargo transportation within airport apron areas. The concept was born out of the need to mitigate the risks associated with human error and streamline the cargo transportation process.

The vehicle's unique selling point lies in its autonomous functionality, which is achieved through the integration of smart sensor systems and artificial intelligence features. This allows Movus to facilitate cargo loading, unloading, transfer, and delivery functions without the need for human labor, ensuring enhanced safety, hygiene, and luggage protection measures.

Movus is equipped with a smart routing system that includes Lidar sensors and stereo cameras to sense depth, distance, and avoid obstacles. The vehicle's 3-level compartment with adjustable door structures and a modular conveyor system further enhance its operational efficiency.

Manufactured with a metal chassis and thermoformed plastic parts, Movus boasts a robust build quality. The vehicle's dimensions, measuring 1800mm in width, 3200mm in depth, and 2400mm in height, are optimized for seamless navigation within airport apron areas.

Following an extensive research phase, which involved collaboration with experts in electric and autonomous vehicles, as well as airport cargo management, Movus successfully overcame various technical and design challenges. The project, which commenced in August 2021, was completed in February 2022 in Turkey.

Ahmet Burak Veyisoglu, the visionary behind Movus, is the Founder & Managing Director of Cura Design. With a decade of experience in product development and a background in design management, Veyisoglu has demonstrated a keen understanding of the intersection between creativity and technical innovation.

Recognizing its groundbreaking design and technological prowess, Movus was honored with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Robotics, Automaton, and Automation Design category in 2022. This accolade underscores the vehicle's exceptional technical characteristics and remarkable level of innovation.
