Edvard Glazebrook unveils Arch, a chair and stool design that redefines simplicity and functionality
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Edvard Glazebrook's Arch is a stunning chair and stool design that combines simplicity, functionality, and cost-effective production methods. Crafted from carved and black stained laminated pine wood, the furniture pieces boast a unique, homogenous, and logical expression. The chair features five identical arches for the legs and backrest, while the stool is made from three half arches that connect in the center.
The use of CNC routing allowed for cost-effective and precise production, enabling the creation of curved shapes that add to the design's strength and aesthetic appeal. The pieces are connected using wooden dowels and glue, ensuring a sturdy and durable construction.
With a focus on simple means of production, Arch stands out as a testament to Glazebrook's dedication to creating furniture with strong shapes and geometry. The design breaks down the chair into its main components - legs, seat, and backrest - treating them equally by repeating the same dimensions, shapes, materials, joints, and surfaces.
Edvard Glazebrook, an architect with a passion for furniture and craftsmanship, hails from Oslo, Norway. His commitment to creating simple yet impactful furniture pieces is evident in Arch, which seamlessly blends form and function. The project, which commenced in March 2020 and concluded in late May 2020, showcases Glazebrook's innovative approach to furniture design.
Arch has received widespread acclaim, earning the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021. This prestigious accolade recognizes the design's outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and contribution to improving quality of life. Glazebrook's intellectual property rights are protected, with copyrights for Arch belonging to him since 2020.
