Architect Inca Hernandez Revives a 1910 Eclectic Style House in Tacuba
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Inca Hernandez, an emerging architect, has led the restoration of Mar Mediterraneo 34, a historic house in Tacuba, Mexico City, built in 1910. The project aimed to give new life to the deteriorating building, preserving its historical and architectural heritage.
The restoration involved meticulous analysis of the urban and historical background, with a focus on preserving authentic artisan elements and reinterpreting the past within the current historical context. The project resulted in the creation of 7 unique apartments, each adapting to different flexible spaces, including lofts, studios, and family apartments.
The intervention not only aimed to rehabilitate the building but also to encourage the transformation of Tacuba, enhancing and rescuing its heritage value. The project, completed between October 2017 and January 2020, has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the A' Design Award in 2021.
