"The Rhyme of Ink" - A Fusion of Oriental and Contemporary Elegance

Er Yu Design Co., Ltd., Hsih Tung Tsai presents "The Rhyme of Ink," a residential design that harmoniously blends the elegance of oriental style with modern simplicity. Inspired by the concept of Qi and Rhyme of the Eastern philosophy, the design captures natural elements, utilizing an open and spacious style to infuse every aspect of the room with elegance.

The project, completed in Taoyuan city, Taiwan, on November 11th, 2019, features a unique interpretation of traditional elements in a contemporary design vocabulary. The combination of ink and color, wood, and stone not only retains the elegance of oriental style but also reflects a simple and clean modern aesthetic.

The design team utilized flowing cloud circulation to interpret brushstrokes, incorporating wooden elements and marbles to create a space free from tedious decoration. The simple and pure color spectrum reflects the white art in ink paintings, creating a humanistic indoor environment that seamlessly connects with the outdoor city scenery.

Utilizing Hanjiangxue marble for the main TV wall, the design overcame load-bearing challenges by employing a strong adhesive structural base and an iron frame as a solid framework. The use of smart technology, different materials, and multifunctional elements enhances the residential space, providing a unique and personalized experience for each resident.

Er Yu Design Co., Ltd. carefully considered the clients' cooking habits, integrating a wet kitchen, island dining table for snacks, and a dining area with smooth circulation to facilitate the Fujian family culture of having dinner together. Large-capacity storage space and a round turntable were planned to meet the needs of receiving guests.

The project faced the challenge of integrating a smart house of technology, requiring the design team to plan a complicated circuit of cables to control situational lighting invisibly, cleanly, and neatly. The result is a residential space that embodies the relationship between nature and humanity, portraying the essence of oriental ink painting through a contemporary lens.
