Designer Liao Jin-Zhi Unveils "Defy" - A Graphic Ode to Taiwanese Anarchism

Liao Jin-Zhi's latest creation, "Defy," is a visually striking and thought-provoking book that delves into the concept of Taiwanese Anarchism. The book, published in April 2021 in Tainan, Taiwan, captures the essence of rebellion and revolution through its unique design and compelling narrative.

The book's cover, coated with spot varnish, features various typical objects used to build barricades, such as traffic cones, barrels, and benches, symbolizing the people's resistance against existing rules and laws. The use of industrial packaging paper for printing material adds a tactile dimension to the reader's experience, evoking shared memories and associations with Anarchism.

Through "Defy," Liao Jin-Zhi aims to create a shared life experience towards Anarchism, interpreting a perspective of Taiwanese folk culture. The book was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2022, recognizing its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach that meets professional and industrial requirements.
