Residential Apartment Design: Slightest Movement

Chien Ting Chen's Slightest Movement is a residential apartment project that redefines living spaces with a focus on implicit design and the integration of different materials to achieve a perfect balance between function and aesthetic feeling. The design, awarded Bronze in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022, is a testament to the designer's creative ingenuity and meticulous attention to detail.

The project, located in New Taipei City, Taiwan, features a large area of white space that serves as a canvas for the intricate details, material selection, and lighting arrangements. The private domain space is characterized by a spacious layout, including a master bedroom with a cloakroom and an expanded bathroom, offering a comfortable and functional configuration. In the public domain, the use of pure white space accentuates the intricate details, such as the application of terrazzo, storage joints, and metal trims, creating a rich and visually captivating environment.

Chien Ting Chen's design realization technology is evident in the deliberate use of ground glass to enclose the bathroom, creating a delicate glass box effect. The open design and the coherence of ceiling arcs in the public domain extend the visual feeling, while transparent glass partitions connect different areas, allowing light to permeate the space. The implicit boundaries are defined by the material changes, including Nero Marquina marble, herringbone parquetry, and terrazzo stone, adding depth and character to the design.

In the pursuit of presenting the texture and temperature of life through implicit design, Chien Ting Chen has overcome creative, technical, and research challenges to deliver a residential apartment that embodies elegance, functionality, and a sophisticated life attitude.
