Award-winning designer Hila Mor unveils Venous Materials, a dynamic tangible interaction design inspired by nature's venous structures, set to revolutionize user experience

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Venous Materials: Interactive Fluidic Interfaces

Hila Mor's Venous Materials project introduces a groundbreaking approach to dynamic tangible interactions through fluidic interfaces. Inspired by the intricate venous structures found in nature and the human body, this innovative design leverages color-changing fluidic channels to provide users with real-time feedback on applied pressure and motion. The project, developed in collaboration with a team of experts, was initiated in June 2019 and completed in April 2020 at the MIT Media Lab's Tangible Media group in Cambridge, MA.

The Venous Materials project is a testament to the fusion of art, science, and technology, offering a new paradigm for interactive material design. By simulating and visualizing color changes and fluid flow within the material, users can experience dynamic graphics, responsive objects, and visualizations of body movement and balance. The project's unique properties, realized through microfluidics and computational design, enable the creation of interactive sensors that can be seamlessly integrated into various objects and fabrics.

With prototypes ranging from 5cmX5cm to 15cmX15cm, Venous Materials represents a significant leap in material research, interaction design, and computational aided design. The project's intellectual property is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License, reflecting a commitment to open innovation and collaboration.
