FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Peixin Wang's "Walk Along Not Alone" is a persuasive board game designed to help elderly Chinese immigrants in the Netherlands cope with end-of-life challenges. The game introduces the concept of end-of-life preparation in a friendly and structured manner, creating a comfortable atmosphere for discussing this sensitive topic.
This innovative board game is the result of extensive research and iterative development, aiming to address the disparities in health literacy, values, and economic conditions faced by elderly immigrants. The game offers practical information on end-of-life preparation and is designed to be adaptable to fit other immigrant groups in different contexts.
Featuring a game board, tips capsule cards, and pawns, "Walk Along Not Alone" provides a unique interactive experience for multiple elderly players. Through answering questions and engaging in various tasks, players gradually build an understanding of end-of-life challenges and explore topics such as healthy living, hospice services, and last wishes.
The project, which started in April 2020 and finished in October 2020, was a graduation project of the Industrial Design Engineering Faculty at the Delft University of Technology, with Pharos, the Dutch Centre of Expertise on Health Disparities, as the project client.
Peixin Wang's "Walk Along Not Alone" was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding contribution to social design and its potential to make a positive impact on the lives of elderly immigrants.
