A New Definition of Urban Public Space in China
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
L&A Design presents the Hongshan Lake Civil Park, a modern urban public space in Xixiu District, Anshun City, Guizhou Province. The project, completed in September 2019, aimed to improve the ecological environment, provide living spaces for residents, and promote Anshun's transformation into a tourism-oriented city.
The park, covering 149901 square meters, features an integrated ecosystem with an emphasis on an ecology-oriented design. The project utilized Low Impact Development (LID) Strategy to protect existing ecological functions and recover the ecosystem, creating various functional spaces for people of all ages.
The park's design also incorporated a rain garden and non-powered safe amusement equipment, aligning with the principles of LID Strategy and providing a sustainable and engaging environment for visitors.
On the basis of site conditions and sensitivity analyses, the project adopted Low Impact Development strategies to protect the original ecological function and address local climate changes. The park's design achieved an ideal coexistence mode between human and nature, offering not only sightseeing but also a variety of activity functions.
The project was designed in 2017 and finished in September 2019 in Anshun, Guizhou, China. Extensive research on surface runoff, eco-corridor, and geographic conditions contributed to the park's development, overcoming challenges posed by terrain differences and the destruction of the original ecosystem caused by climatic changes.
The Hongshan Lake Civil Park project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence in landscape planning and garden design.
