Artika Horizon: Redefining Wrist Watches with Innovative Design

Albert Rakhimzhanov's Artika Horizon is a groundbreaking wristwatch that redefines conventional timepieces. Inspired by the concept of space bending under the influence of large forces, the design reflects the philosophy of Artika, aiming to integrate the metaphor of space and time into both form and function. The watch features a unique cord symbolizing space bending around time beyond its control, offering a versatile wearing experience.

The Horizon watch boasts a monolithic case with a strap that allows for versatile wearing on the wrist, neck, clothing, or backpack. Its innovative construction simplifies and enhances reliability, offering a fresh perspective on traditional wristwatches. The design, made in the style of the Artika brand, embodies simplicity and sophistication, setting it apart from conventional timepieces.

Utilizing real quartz movement dimensions, the body material of the watch is metal, with production technologies including additive manufacturing or CNC milling, justified by the design's complexity and limited circulation. The watch measures 43mm in diameter and 9mm in depth, offering a sleek and modern aesthetic.

Starting as a master's project, Artika Horizon is the result of collaboration with the Barcelona-based design studio Anima, aiming to develop a wristwatch concept for the Artika brand. The project commenced in September 2019 in St. Petersburg and concluded in January 2020, showcasing extensive research and creative innovation.

Recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award, Artika Horizon stands as a testament to exceptional creativity, technical prowess, and innovation. This award-winning design exemplifies outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable artistic skill, introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder to its users.
