Taiwanese Designer Chen Kuan-Cheng's Lattice Chair Wins Prestigious Platinum A' Design Award
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Taiwanese designer Chen Kuan-Cheng's Lattice Chair has been awarded the prestigious Platinum A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category for 2021. The chair, inspired by the graceful flow of a waterfall, combines the flexibility of bamboo and the strength of wood to create a unique and functional piece of furniture.
The Lattice Chair features a beautiful lattice pattern that symbolizes the fusion of wood and bamboo, as well as the blending of Eastern and Western cultures. The innovative design allows the chair to weigh only 4 kg while being able to withstand more than 120 kg of weight, making it suitable for users of all ages.
Constructed using Taiwan-Specific Moso bamboo and bending technology, the chair's single-sided armrest design provides users with the freedom to sit in various ways, offering enhanced comfort and flexibility. The project, which commenced in April 2019 and concluded in December 2019 in Taiwan, overcame the challenges of bending wood and cutting it in different ways to create a truly unique piece of furniture.
Kuan Design Studio, based in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, specializes in product and furniture design, with a focus on utilizing Taiwan's high-quality bamboo to create innovative and functional designs. The studio's use of bending and weaving techniques with bent wood showcases the value of Taiwan's craftsmanship and aims to bring these products into the lives of ordinary people.
