ECOLAND Planning and Design Corp. Creates Rooftop Play Area for Yuecheng Kindergarten

ECOLAND Planning and Design Corp. has transformed the rooftop of Yuecheng Kindergarten into a bold and imaginative outdoor discovery area, fostering inquiry-focused learning and play for young children. The innovative design encapsulates ancient trees within contemporary "Bubbles," seamlessly connecting the ground level with the rooftop play area.

The rooftop playground, covering 43,800 square feet, serves as a harmonious blend of cultural, historical, and natural heritage, achieved through the use of a dominant and stylized Chinese cloud motif. This design statement not only preserves the integrity of the historical courtyard building but also provides valuable space for children to play and explore.

The project, completed in 2019, offers different play zones, including a tricycle track, undulating landforms with color bands for visual learning, and "Hills and Plains" encouraging climbing and exploration. The rooftop space also features light wells, providing both functional and educational benefits for the children.

Utilizing edible-grade plastic ground as the paving material, the rooftop playground ensures a safe and comfortable surface for children to engage in various activities, all while preserving the historic courtyard buildings and trees on the site.
