Eva Szumilas Unveils the Gong Bar Cabinet, Inspired by Far East Culture and Craftsmanship
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Eva Szumilas introduces the Gong bar cabinet, a fusion of Far East culture and functional elegance. This bespoke piece, awarded Silver in A' Limited Edition and Custom Design Award in 2022, is a statement piece suitable for any interior. The cabinet, executed in November 2019 for a residential project located in Beirut Downtown, exudes opulence and sophistication.
The Gong cabinet is inspired by the symbolic significance of the Gong instrument in Far East culture, representing wealth, fortune, and strength. The cabinet's two sliding doors are made of handmade palisander wood marquetry, revealing three wooden shelves, dimmable lighting, and a mirrored back panel. The structure and handles are crafted from fully loaded brass profiles, while a tempered glass shelf at the bottom enhances stability and creates additional storage space.
Measuring 1200mm x 500mm x 1700mm, the Gong bar cabinet is a testament to Szumilas' mastery in furniture and product design. With a background in architecture and city planning, Szumilas has seamlessly integrated her passion for design and her multicultural experiences into this timeless, pure, and discreet piece. Her work, characterized by powerful aesthetics and functionality, reflects a fusion of Middle Eastern and European influences.
