Yishu Yan's "The Opposite" collection, inspired by the dynamic relationship between audio and architecture, challenges conventional fashion norms with its sustainable, adaptable, and flexible design.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yishu Yan's "The Opposite" collection is a groundbreaking unisex fashion knitwear line that redefines modern garments with its multiple wearing methods. Inspired by the dynamic relationship between audio and architecture, the collection challenges conventional fashion norms with its sustainable, adaptable, and flexible design. The collection was awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2024, recognizing its outstanding expertise and innovation.
The collection features zero-cut, zero-waste, highly adaptable, and flexible wearability, emphasizing sustainable design thinking and digital design attributes. It aims to explore the process of confrontation and cooperation between contradictory elements through the development of flexible knitted structures and changeable garment constructions, questioning common notions of men's and women's wear, and Eastern and Western clothing.
Yishu Yan, a designer, maker, and researcher specializing in knitting, completed the project in Hong Kong, China in 2019. The collection has been exhibited at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, USA, and has garnered international recognition for its innovative approach to fashion and textile design.
