Hat Lamp: Illuminating Spaces with Nature's Beauty

Chromosome (Hangzhou) Design Co., Ltd. proudly presents the Hat Lamp, a remarkable light installation that draws inspiration from the fleeting beauty of a sunset. Crafted to resemble a quiet man in a hat, the lamp creates a serene ambiance by simulating sunlight through a window, positively influencing emotions and subconscious. Users can interact with the lamp, changing the top disc to experience various sunlight moments, while the design symbolizes the sky and earth, echoing the cosmology of "the sky is round and the earth is square" in Chinese culture.

The Hat Lamp is the result of extensive hands-on experiments and intuitive thinking on light reflection, refraction, and material properties. The design incorporates a new light structure, creating subtle and natural light and shadow with the color of sunshine. Measuring W:250mm*D:250mm*H:1500, the lamp is crafted from wood, metal, light bulbs, wires, and optical materials, offering a unique blend of artistry and functionality.

The user can replace the top piece, embedded with customized optical materials, to project three moments of sunshine: noon (white sunlight), sunset (yellow sunlight), and dusk (orange sunlight). The sculptural lamp shape hints at its function, integrating light and shadow to create an imagined world within the space.

“Chromosome” is a young design team based in Hangzhou, China, committed to integrating and innovating digital, art, and product design. The Hat Lamp has been awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2022, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence.
