Children's Hospital Wayfinding Team Unveils Innovative Wayfinding Design for Queensland Children's Hospital
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Children's Hospital Wayfinding Team at Queensland Children's Hospital has unveiled a groundbreaking wayfinding design, "Journey To Fun," aimed at enhancing the hospital's Entertainment Precinct's branded identity and improving wayfinding for locating services. The innovative design incorporates nature, children's games, and collaboration with hospital stakeholders, creating a joyful experience that distracts families from illness.
The 226 square meters of visual design cover the walls of the Entertainment Precinct, integrating with the architecture and environment, while 270 square meters of floor space feature playful directional signage. The design utilizes wayfinding and UX design to tackle challenges like getting lost and limited engagement, creating memorable landmarks and unique directional signage to aid recollection.
Starting in October 2020, the project was publicly launched in October 2021 and remains a significant and impactful part of the Queensland Childrenâs Hospital. The interdisciplinary approach with stakeholders, including co-design workshops and collaborative human-centered methods, has been key to the project's success.
