Yingting Yang Unveils the Exquisite Ripples Jewelry Collection
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yingting Yang introduces the Ripples jewelry collection, inspired by the serene beauty of nature. Crafted with specially cut jadeite and adorned with 189 princess cut diamonds, this collection is a stunning representation of the slow expansion of waves.
The necklace, made with 18K gold, features a one-piece molding stretchy hollow structure designed to embrace body curvatures, while the earrings showcase moon-shaped pieces with wiggling layers to maximize diamond luster.
Yang's dedication to highlighting the natural beauty of gems challenges traditional aesthetics, earning her the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022.
The Ripples necklace and earrings set is constructed with translucent jadeite with inclusions, surrounded by a diamond set on 18K gold plate, each of these small moon-shaped pieces was carefully set to mimic the effect of a ripple. With those waves expanding and interconnecting with each other, the image of ripples on a still water pond is created. The wind wrinkles the still water surface and blurs the aquatic plants underneath. This imagery of mother nature inspired the ripple series.
This is a wearable piece of art that acts as a necklace and earrings.
The project was designed in March 2021 in Kunming and finished in November 2021 in Kunming. As the market floods with people who seek the perfect gem, those gems with inclusions are often regarded as flawed products. It is not a common practice to cut jadeite with inclusions into a cabochon cut. As a designer, I set out to bring the natural beauty of the gems into the spotlight. The project started by looking for raw jadeite with inclusions, then cutting the raw material into the proper shapes and sizes. The result is promising as shown in the image.
The challenge of this project is to make a seemingly perfect circle to hug the curvature human body. The shape of the circle was carefully tuned to lay naturally on different body types. And each layer of diamond waves won't cause any discomfort to the wearer.
Ying is an independent jewelry design studio located in Kunming, China. With the emphasis on Burmese jadeites and gemstones, it is set to create contemporary pieces of jewelry for now and the future. The goal is to break the traditional aesthetics of jadeite. The brand uses recycled gold to fabricate 18K jewelry. Yingting Yang is the creative director of the brand. Her work often is an abstraction of nature. With imagery abstracted from animals and plants, her work idealizes the beauty of mother earth.
