Guangdong Ecological Belt: Modular Design for Cultural Signage

Wenhui Ou's Guangdong Ecological Belt project, located in Guangdong province, China, features a unique signage system themed around water conservation and governance. The system integrates with public greenways and scenic spots signage, showcasing the process of water conservancy and its governance. The project commenced in September 2019 and was completed in August 2020, aiming to raise awareness about the protection of water sources.

The central element of this project is its modular design, allowing for the expression of diversified cultural characteristics while ensuring the unity and harmony of the entire system. The signage system is designed to spread knowledge about water conservancy and governance, contributing to the establishment of a high-quality iconic image for the project. The project won the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious design.

To facilitate installation and maintenance, the signage system adopts a standard industrial structure and modular design for its parts. Equipped with anti-theft non-standard screws, it offers enhanced freedom in use and operability while reducing costs. The project follows several rivers of different sizes throughout cities with dissimilar economic situations, aiming to live up to local financial needs and highlight the features of charming rivers and lakes in Guangdong province.
