OneSmart International Education unveils its new headquarters in Shanghai, designed by Benny Ren, blending traditional Chinese cultural elements with modern space design.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OneSmart International Education, a leading Chinese education brand, has revealed its new headquarters in Shanghai, designed by Benny Ren. The headquarters, located in an 11-floor old building in Putuo District, Shanghai, spans 12000 square meters and is designed to meet the needs of daily office work, meetings, and public benefit education activities.
The design draws inspiration from traditional Chinese cultural elements, incorporating "yearly higher", "auspicious clouds and dragon", "high mountains and flowing water", and "neatly stacked" themes. These elements are combined with the space to create a national style theme.
To address the challenges posed by the original building structure, the designers utilized large-scale art installations to create a sense of continuity and visual extension throughout the building. This approach maximizes the visual expansion of the space, creating a bright and comfortable environment.
The overall architectural space adopts a dynamic blue and white tone, supplemented by warm wood colors, creating an open, bright, and comfortable office and educational environment. The staircase connecting the first and second floors takes a spiral shape, reducing visual tightness and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
The project, which commenced in December 2019 and concluded in May 2020, successfully blends traditional Chinese "FengShui" culture with modern space design concepts, presenting a unique blend of ancient culture and contemporary visual aesthetics.
The design has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021, showcasing outstanding expertise and innovation.
