Arc Chair: A Fusion of Aesthetics and Functionality

Dheeraj Belgaonkar introduces the Arc Chair, a multipurpose seating solution that seamlessly blends fluid arcs, ergonomic comfort, and adaptability into a unique piece of furniture. The chair's dynamic form, inspired by biomorphic shapes, embodies movement and harmony, creating an alluring seating experience.

The chair structure comprises a 16 gauge CRC Mild Steel Pipe and 18mm thick birch plywood, realized through advanced design processes and CNC technology. The Arc Chair's overall dimensions are 550 mm x 550 mm x 730 mm, with a seating height of 445 mm and a seat area of 450 mm x 430 mm.

Designed as part of a student furniture project at the National Institute of Design Ahmedabad, the Arc Chair project commenced in March 2023 and concluded in May 2023, overcoming creative and technical challenges to achieve a harmonious fusion of beauty and practicality.

The Arc Chair is a winner of the prestigious A' Design Award, receiving the Iron A' Furniture Design Award in 2024 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative qualities that meet professional and industrial requirements.
